A photo booth is now present in pretty much every wedding and party. It helps guests let loose and have something to remember the night by. Overall, photo booths are fun, but with a few (or a lot!) of cocktails, some guests may go overboard.

As the host, it is upon you to ensure that guests follow some simple rules to keep the fun going for everyone, including the vendor. And as a guest, you definitely don’t want to embarrass yourself when the photos come out!

Here are some photo booth do’s and don’ts to keep in mind:

  1. Do put your food and drinks down.

With everyone trying to strike a wacky pose, it’s not impossible to spill wine on somebody else, or even on the photo booth equipment. Keep the event free from these accidents by restricting food and drinks on the booth area.

  1. Don’t squeeze in too many people.

Photo booths are present so that everyone gets a remembrance of the wedding or event. Prevent squeezing too many people in one photo, where the people in it become hardly recognisable. Instead, divide guests into groups. Or take the big group shot where there’s more space, with your assigned wedding or event photographer.

  1. Don’t photobomb.

Some people may find photobombs funny, and some people may not. Injecting yourself into another group’s photo may not be the best idea, especially if you’re not acquainted — so stick to the wacky poses with your own group.

  1. Do fall in line and take breaks between sessions so others can use it.

There will most likely be a line to use the photo booth, so wait for your turn. It is also likely that there will be a number of poses or shots per session. When you’re done with that number and still want to pose with a different group or a variety of propa, you will have to fall in line again. Give it a rest for a while and let others enjoy it!

  1. Don’t take props from the booth and do handle props with care.

The fur boa or feathered hat in the photo booth may match your dress perfectly, but it’s not a good idea to run with it or wear it outside of the booth. It may also not look like much, but setting up a photo booth also calls for a substantial investment – including the booth itself, equipment and props. Ruined equipment and missing props may cost the vendor some money, and they will likely charge the host if something is ruined or lost.

  1. And last but not the least…Do keep it classy.

What happens in the photo booth doesn’t always stay in the photo booth! Some vendors may be sensible enough to edit out embarrassing snaps from the final photo line-up, but some may not. Be at your best, but wacky, behaviour and always keep in mind that other people will see the photos.
