DELEGATE: Tell us more about yourself!
I am the head planner at Spectrum. I am a French planner with 8 years of experience in luxury events & wedding planning. I am also a certified Wedding specialist from Weddings Beautiful Worldwide, the National bridal service.
D: What is the vision/mission for your company?
We design Bespoke experiences: A fresh concept, high standards for production, dedicated service, engaging activities and a sophisticated décor.
D: How did you start your business? What were some adversities you faced when you first started out?
When you first start an event & wedding planning business it is hard as you have no portfolio to show. Clients always ask to see your portfolio, even with not much experience I think clients chose us because of my personality and trust. They knew they could trust us to do a great job and I’m thankful for that. You need to get your first few shots to build your portfolio up slowly.
D: Most memorable experience since starting your business?
I would say all. Each event or wedding we’ve done has been very unique and brings their own memories. This is one of the reasons I chose this industry because I do love creating new experiences every time and I get to do something different every day. I love challenges and coming up with new concepts & fresh ideas.
D: What is one thing you would like your customers to know about your company?
Aside from planning and management, our company also does in-house design & conceptualising. We are very creative and passionate about our work and we all come from different backgrounds: Fashion, design, architecture which makes our vision broader and our creativity more open.
D: What was your first job?
I worked at GL events organizing medical events which was really detailed work. We were working with PhDs and MDs with high requirements and everything needed to be perfect. Triple checking the spelling of each word, especially the technical terms that need extra attention. That was my first step into the event planning world.
D: What aspects of your personality can we see in your work?
Our signature wedding is sophisticated, elegant & stylish with a touch of French chic.
D: How would you describe your personal style?
Chic & modern. I do love wearing neutral tones such as black or white. I think that’s probably my French style coming up, we like more of a natural look, not overdone. I like simplicity.
D: What are your hobbies and passions outside of work?
I do yoga and I love horse riding. I also love traveling so every time I can, I would go visit a new country. I’ve been traveling a lot around South East Asia recently such as Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines. I always discover amazing places and think why not do a wedding there.
D: How do you spend your weekends/free time?
I don’t have much free time recently as this year has been busy for us, so during weekends I try to rest as much as possible. Meet friends for brunch, read books about business mostly, go to see some expo or galleries. I also love walking around the city to get new inspiration.
D: Any future plans in the pipeline?
We are now developing destination weddings, to Europe and France particularly. We are also starting to have more requests for pre-wedding shoots in France and couples who want us to organize everything for them (make up artists, photographers, dress, unique experiences…)
D: Who was your biggest influence when you were starting out?
Sarah Haywood. She is one of the best wedding planners and I admire her work, which is always elegant and chic. I also admire David Stark who is a highly creative genius. His events are unique yet you can always find his signature style imprinted onto it.
D: In your own words, starting your own business is..
challenging but rewarding. It is definitely not easy, otherwise everyone would do it. When you achieve a project successfully, you do feel accomplished and proud.
D: Where else can we find you online?
