DELEGATE: Tell us more about yourself

We are Annina and Kendra from Susucre – a team of passionate, perfectionistic, creative designers, bakers, sculptors, flower makers, teachers and lovers of beauty. We come from business as well as pastry backgrounds but always had a strong affiliation with design and style.


D:  How did you get the idea or concept for your business?

Susucre was born out of our passions of design and pastry. Cake decorating allows us to be creative while making people happy with cake, what’s better than that?

D: What is your vision/mission for your company?

Our mission when we founded Susucre is to be a custom cake and dessert table company that marries outstanding, beautiful designs with truly delicious European cakes and desserts. We offer our clients products that are hand-made from scratch using high quality ingredients and European artisan recipes to give them the joy of eating delicious and additive free cakes that taste as good as they look.


D: How did you start it? What were some adversities you faced when starting it?

We started Susucre in 2014 as a two-woman show focusing on wedding and celebration cakes. We soon added our dessert table services when we realized the demand for it.
We soon saw our limitations of being a small team – many long nights and weekends later, we moved our kitchen to larger premises and started to increase the size of our team.

D: What is something we might not know about the industry you’re in?

Fondant is nothing to be scared of. We have a lot of customers asking us if fondant isn’t always really hard and sugary – but there are different types of fondant out there. We use a premium Swiss fondant that is soft, melts with the cream underneath and tastes like vanilla. So yes, fondant can also be delicious!

D: What has been the most memorable experience for you so far in running your business?

Lovely e-mails and thank you notes from our customers. It is so great to receive pictures and hear how the guests loved the cake or how the birthday kids were stoked to see their cake.


D: How do you define success? Who do you see as successful?

Success for us is when our clients trust us fully. Especially for weddings and first birthdays, more and more customers leave us the creative freedom to design their cakes and dessert tables from scratch and want to be surprised on the day.

D: Which habits of yours have gotten you to where you are today?  

Our determination and passion – they get us through long nights and busy weekends.

D: What is one thing you would like your customers to know about your company?

D: If you could give advice to fellow and budding entrepreneurs, what wold it be?

Be passionate about what you do and try out new things.
